Entre 1990 et 2002, Bertrand Sallard a réalisé des centaines de miniatures, gouaches de très petit format sur carton ou papier brun. D’exécution rapide, construites sur des accords fugitifs de couleur et de lumière, entre figuration et abstraction, ces œuvres conjuguent les traits des travaux de la période précédente, calligraphies abstraites et aquarelles figuratives, saisies sur le motif.
Between 1990 and 2002, Sallard painted hundreds of miniatures, gouaches of small size on cardboard or brown paper. Fastly done, built on fugitive harmonies of colour and light, between figurative and abstract art, these paintings unite elements of former periods’ works, abstract calligraphies and figurative watercolours.
